Quote of the Month (Feb 24)

Before we begin this post, I want to introduce what it is about. It is a new idea that I have had and will be using for some posts. At the start of every month, I’ll be sharing a quote and discussing it a little: what it means for me, why it’s so important, and how we can use it to motivate and inspire us. It will be used on the first post of every month, but this month it’s going to be the last. Do let me know what you think in the comments below!

You know why kids love athletes? Kids love athletes because they follow their dreams.

I came across this quote whilst watching a YouTube video on football. Yes, I am a football fan. No, I do not remember anything else about that video. Even if I did remember more of the video, it doesn't matter because none of that resonated with me as much as the quote. This quote hit me hard in the face, harder than I expected, and I was never able to forget about it after.

The reason why it hit hard was because children are young and naive and dream BIG. Bigger than many of us do. As we grow up, we become more aware of expectations and norms and society and the growing list of responsibilities we have. All that then dominate our world that we start to play things safe and refuse to dream big because it’s too unrealistic or something.

Many people (who aren't children) look down on athletes and see them to not be doing any real work, but being an athlete is one of the most challenging things ever. It’s true that you get paid a lot and can live a life of luxury, but athletes have to go through serious training. They have to work on their physical and mental health. Not just their health, but more. The way they train and their mental state are on a whole other level because they wouldn’t be able to achieve if they were any other way. Not only that, but many people look up to them and they have to continue being a positive role model, especially when it comes to maintaining their reputation, otherwise they get an extreme amount of ‘stick’ for slipping up like any other human.

Despite their hardships, they still get up and work hard. And that’s what matters. That’s why this quote is so important. Athletes don't let anything or anyone stop them from achieving their dreams. They work hard for it. Yet all the hard work goes unnoticed. Not many people get to see the journey, but everyone sees the outcome.

There are many different things you can dream of and many more hardships that would occur between you and achieving that dream, but the most important thing is that you journey through those hardships and overcome them to reach the other side. And that can only be achieved through hard work and plenty of effort. You need to put your all into it - blood, sweat and tears - and not let anyone stop you. Make the child version of you proud by making that dream a reality.

To wrap up, I just want to add one last piece of advice. Let yourself be inspired by others, no matter who they are. It doesn’t matter if they aren’t working in the same field as you or if you are completely different to them. You can still admire their characteristics and learn from them, be inspired by them, as you go through your own journey. I have nothing in common with CR7, yet his dedication, work ethic, and discipline is incredibly inspiring. That’s why it’s not hard to see the answer when you ask: “You know why kids love athletes? Kids love athletes because they follow their dreams.

That’s all from me today. I’ll see you in my next post. Let the grind begin! ;D
