I normally publish blogs on Mondays and this Monday is a bank holiday in the UK. The reason that everyone's getting a day off is because of King Charles III's coronation was on Saturday, so I thought it was fit to write something that is linked to the current affairs.
There were some things I noticed during the coronation which I want to touch up on as they can be linked to us as individuals who are trying to better ourselves all the time.
Always be open to everyone.
There were things that were presented to the King, representing ethnic minorities in the country, which obviously wouldn't have been a part of the tradition in the past as the country wasn't as diverse as it now is. Whilst this inclusivity can be praised as it recognises the diversity of the country, how far and how much could we really praise it?
Hate crime and xenophobia still exists and there are many who still haven't received justice only because of their background. Because of that, I wanted to remind us to always be open minded and accepting at all times, not only when it suits you or when you pick and choose. At the end of the day, everyone is a human and there is so much we can learn from each other. No race is better than the other so should always be open to each other at all times.
Be considerate and compassionate.
Whilst the world believes that the entirety of the UK (or at least most of it) are celebrating the coronation, the truth is some people were disgusted and left disappointed by this celebration. Many people say that it was all badly timed because the UK is undergoing an economic crisis, leaving 14.4 million people living in poverty. You would have never guessed that with the grandeur of the coronation and its celebration.
As a result it is important to always remember those who are less fortunate than you. Don't forget about them or turn your back on them. Instead, look out for them and help them out.
Don't give empty promises.
No one likes an empty promise: it gives you a false sense of hope when, instead, you could have tried another way during the time you were waiting and hoping. It is also because of this that many politicians and people of power are dislike. They are often categorised as liars and people not to bother trusting because they promise the nation something, only for them not to deliver.
During the coronation, the King was seen making various promises to his people, but not everyone was confident in them because of the situation they all are in. The majority of the nation are living in a time that's lacking stability, so how can they celebrate the coronation when things only seem to be getting worse and worse?
These are three things that I noticed during the coronation on Saturday that made me thing over them deeply. They can be implemented into our own lives to help us improve and become better people overall. With this kind of characteristic, people will tend to be much warmer towards us too because they like our personality.
That's all for today. I'll see you in the next post. Take care! ;)
